City of Truesdale Drug Take Back Event
The City of Truesdale joined the Drug Take Back program in 2011 and has provided a box for this purpose at City Hall. It is available for use by everyone – not just Truesdale residents. The city believes this is important for two reasons:
- Providing a place for people to bring unwanted or unused medications keeps them from being flushed or dumped onto the ground and getting into the groundwater supply, contaminating our drinking water.
- It prevents the medication from being consumed inappropriately – either by accident or through illegal sales.
Thus far, the City of Truesdale has collected 3,473.5 pounds of medication. City staff asks no questions concerning the medication, except to make sure there are no needles or inhalers. These items must be removed for safety reasons.
Please let others know about the drug take back event on October 23. A special thanks to the City of Truesdale for recognizing the importance of this issue and providing a means to deal with the problem for residents and other individuals in the region.
