Recycling Center Opens in Warren County
Earth Day 2010. The East Central Missouri Recycling Center held its grand opening on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The recycling center is located at 24448 South Highway 47 (approximately 3 miles south of Warrenton) and serves Franklin, Lincoln, Montgomery and Warren counties. Boonslick Regional Planning Commission operates the facility.
The recycling center provides a drop off area which is open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 8:00-5:00 and on Saturdays from 8:00-12:00. Patrons may bring items and will be asked to sort them into designated containers.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE ACCEPTED:
- Paper products – Office paper, books, junk mail, magazines, telephone books
- Chipboard – Cereal boxes (remove liner) soda cartons, etc.
- Cardboard/OCC – Boxes (flattened), brown grocery bags, pizza boxes
- Glass – Clear and colored bottles and jars (remove caps and corks)
- Plastics – Water bottles, milk jugs, laundry detergent jugs, colored plastic containers, PET #1 & HDPE #2 (please rinse and remove lids)
- Aluminum – Cans and containers
- Metals – Tin cans, scrap metal, copper, wire, white goods and appliances
- Used Motor Oil
- Electronics – Computers, monitors*, printers, TVs*, etc. (*$15 fee may apply)
- CFLs – Compact fluorescent bulbs
- Batteries – Car batteries, cell phone batteries, lead acid batteries (NO cracked, leaking or alkaline batteries will be accepted)
NEW ITEMS NOW BEING ACCEPTED:
- Wooden Pallets
- CDs, DVDs, Video and Casette Tapes
- Clothing, textiles & shoes
The recycling center may be able to expand services as the operation progresses. In addition, staff will look for opportunities to work with other entities to hold special collections in the future.
