The Missouri Broadband Now project will present its draft Strategic Plan at a working meeting of the Regional Technology Planning Team (RTPT).  The meeting is scheduled for May 2 at the Boonslick Regional Planning Commission office, 111 Steinhagen Road, Warrenton.  The meeting starts at 10am and is open to the public.

The initial draft of the Strategic Plan will be reviewed by the RTPT and will contain all or portions of the following elements:

1. Introduction, Purpose of Planning Exercise and Regional Overview
2. Key Assessment Findings
   1. Residential Survey
   2. Business Survey
   3. Focused Discussions by Sector
   4. Detailed SWOC findings and Analysis
      1. Strengths of the region and how they relate to MOBroadbandNow goals.
      2. Weaknesses of the region and how they relate to MOBroadbandNow  goals
      3. Opportunities identified by the RTPT, how they support MOBroadbandNow    goals, and how to take advantage of these opportunities.
      4. Challenges identified by the RTPT and mechanisms needed to address these challenges.
      5. Strategic Direction
         1. Short, medium, and long term goals and objectives to boost broadband adoption and availability.

                                          i.    Regional policies that roll up into state policies for residential, business and anchor institutions encouraging;

1. Availability
2. Adoption
3. Literacy and Usage
4. Action Items and Implementation Plan

                                          i.    Short and long term

1. Financial, human and organizational resources considerations
2. Timelines and benchmarks for measuring progress

Following review the plan will be revised and sent back to the RTPT for a final review before being issued publically and then being rolled up into a compilation plan for the entire state.  The initial Strategic Planning process is then complete.

Various transportation issues were discussed, including MoDOT’s proposal regarding a toll on Interstate 70. Comments and feedback gathered from the meeting will be discussed in detail at the next BRPC Board Meeting. In the meantime, TAC members are to compile a list of needs for their respective communities. Those needs will be discussed in further detail at the next TAC meeting in April.
