Montgomery County Celebrates its Designation as a Certified Work Ready Community

Montgomery County Presiding Commissioner Ryan Poston welcomed everyone. He explained that 228 individuals in the county had attained a National Career Readiness Certificate, showing they had skills needed by employers. Mardy Leathers, Director of the Division of Workforce Development – Missouri Department of Economic Development, served as guest speaker for the event.  He shared his excitement that all three counties in the Boonslick Region have achieved the CWRC designation, and presented Montgomery County officials with a proclamation from the Governor’s office.

Northeast Missouri Workforce Development Board Director Diane Simbro shared information about the CWRC initiative and spoke about how there is a real focus on workforce development and the importance of having good jobs in rural communities. Greater   Montgomery County Economic Development Council President Brent Speight confirmed that employers have been expressing the need for skilled workers.

BRPC Business Outreach Coordinator JoAnn Toerper thanked the many people involved in helping the county achieve designation as a Certified Work Ready Community. She encouraged everyone to keep working together.
